But $900 is kind of high for me. I only have a thousand or two miles left on my front tires and I really want new wheels before I get new ones. Which pretty much means I have to order them by Christmas, since I really need the tires replaced by the end of the year. Anyone have experience with Kumho Ecstas? If they’ll last me a long time, I suppose it could be a good investment.

I’m also not 100% sold on the black lips on the wheels ( although, the Black Lips are a great band) but I love the wide spokes.

Also also, does ordering a set mean they’ll come with the tires mounted, or do I need to take th em somewhere?

I think we had those on my lexus.

I wasnt a big fan of them. they handled weird...almost like the car was in quick sand or something.

and they didnt exactly last a super long time either.

I much rather prefered the contientals that were on it before

I’ve run a version of the Ecstas many years ago and they were decent, but nowadays it’s a good conti, pilot sport, or pirelli high performance tire for me. Then I have dedicated winters. Tires are one of the few purchases that can make or break a good driving experience and to me aren’t worth comprising on.

I also tried a set of the kuhmo ASXs for my truck and hated them. I couldn’t wait to chew them up so I could justify replacing them. The other set I had aren’t made anymore and they were a high performance tire of theirs.  But after the ASXs I don’t buy Kumho anymore.  $100-$200 savings isn’t worth it for sub par tires to me.

Oh yeah,  and if you order tires and wheels from tire rack they will mount and balance them for you.

Doesn’t seem like much of a deal? I think Pep Boys is running a “Buy 2, get 2 free” deal, Tire Buyer is doing “up to $100 off”,  and Simple Tire has some discounts too.  Might help to shop around a bit more.

No comments on the Kumhos. Tire Rack should have some reviews?

Would you get different sized rims or stay with the same size that’s on there now?

Ideally, I want to go from 15 to 17, possibly 18. The current ones are just so tiny.

Ah, ok. Then that would impact if/when you got new rims. I was going to say if you’re going to run the same size tire, then just get the tires and worry about the rims later. Since you’re changing the size, better to do it now.
